As you have probably heard and encountered, Facebook has recently undergone a facelift with their profile layout yet again. The new profile layout offers users a bigger displayed profile picture, their latest tagged photographs and information about them at the top and center of the profile page. The new look was unveiled Sunday afternoon right before Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerburg was interviewed on CBS News “60 Minutes.” The CEO mentioned that the new profile layout was designed to make the social network profiles more centered around the user and the user’s friends. Check out the updates below that are included with the new Facebook profile layout upgrade:
- Profile picture in upper left-hand corner is now bigger
- Personal information (place of work, where you live, hometown, education, birthdate) are now under your name near the top of the screen
- Family members and friends are featured in your left-hand column
- Friends or special groups can be featured in your left-hand column
- By clicking on a friend, you can now view your Facebook history with them
- No change in privacy settings
One key change to point out: regardless of how you have your privacy settings configured, anyone on Facebook — even people who aren’t friends — can see your name, where you work or go to school, your relationship status, your birthdate, where you live and your hometown.
If you don’t have the new profile set, you can go to www.facebook.com, log into your account, go to about/profile and click on “Get New Profile.” If you have already set your profile to the new layout, how do you or do you not like the change? Feel free to leave your responses to this post below.
